What is Baião? Wiki
Baião Polyrhythms is a course about Baião-style coordination for drum set. Pay attention to how the feet work when we play Baião-style polyrhythms. The right bass drum foot keeps the beater pressed into the head after the first two strokes, shortening the sustain. After the third stroke, the foot lets the beater come away from the head, allowing the drum to sound fuller and longer.
The left foot essentially mirrors the right foot. As a result, every third left-foot stroke gives us an open hi-hat sound. This effect is often called a splash hi-hat.
In the YouTube descriptions under these videos, I explain what is happening in each exercise from a mathematical point of view. The YouTube playlist with these patterns is here: youtube.com/playlist.
The other parts of the course are available among the paid materials in my Patreon.
Baião Polyrhythms is useful for practicing foot coordination, hi-hat openings, and control of note length in a musical context.
